Saturn in Aries
The time has come. This Saturday, May 24 at about 11:35pm EST, Saturn will leave Pisces and ingress into Aries where he’ll have a brief trip ending on September 1, 2025. The longer two year trip begins February 2026.
For my fellow 90s babies, this is a big fucking deal. Zillenials born 4/7/1996 through 6/9/1998 or 10/26/1998 through 2/28/1999 will get the first taste of our Saturn return. Real Adulthood is knocking at our door. We’re being called to reconcile with the rules, guidelines, and limitations we’ve been abiding by for the past 27-29 years of our lives and it hasn’t been easy.
A lot of us have funky experiences with doing things first in our families and communities - the first college graduates, the first entrepreneurs, the first activists, the first to call (or take) out oppressive systems (I’m looking at you Luigi). And all of that takes immense bravery.
But because we’re the ones to Do It First, the ones who call it out, the ones who say enough is enough, there’s a lot of trial and error. A lot of seeing what sticks, a lot of embarrassment, a lot of proving we can do it. And some of that, “I’m just gonna do it myself”, stems from disappointment in our elders or institutions. Disappointment in the lack of resources, the lack of support, the lack of (or unwillingness to) fight against the rules that clearly don’t work.
Because of this, Saturn in Aries takes independence to the extreme. Some of us were forced into adulthood at a very young age. As someone with Saturn in Aries in my first house, I’m the oldest of 5 kids. I am all too familiar with the “you’re a role model for your younger siblings” and extreme self reliance I had to adopt because I had so many younger siblings my parents had to take care of. I didn’t want to burden my parents with my problems because my siblings needed their attention more than I did. Some of us see it as our duty, our responsibility, our obligation to be independent, succeed, to win.
On the flip side, it can be so liberating to say fuck it, I’ll do it myself, and to accept your fate and to only depend on yourself. Sure, we may not have everything figured out or all the answers, but damn it sure does feel good to be free to know that YOU are gonna get YOU there.
The issue though is that Saturn doesn’t really care about your freedom or independence. Saturn wants to create some enduring, something that will withstand the test of time. Aries couldn’t care less about the consequences of their actions, we just want to Do It.
The fuck it ill do it myself energy will be so potent but please remember that creating a rulebook/a guideline/a new structure requires feedback and collaboration, especially if you want other ppl to subscribe to the new rulebook. Be mindful of taking your authority and independence to the extreme, it’s easy to do things on your own but we gotta make sure we’re not moving so fast we forget to check our work. Some rules and limitations exist for a reason, it’s up to us to think critically about the rules and limitations we’re destroying. Think critically about the spark your starting - can you sustain this and who can you ask for help?
We got this and we’re in this together. Stay hydrated, take it day by day, and let’s fucking do this.
